Living Mysticism

This posting is not open for current discussion. This discussion is about mysticism in the core our lives - our experience of consciousness, of the creation which surrounds us, and the purpose and direction of our lives. It is about our personal experience and practices. What is it that makes us mystics? What does it mean for us to be mystics?

I'm a little lost here. Has no one else contributed?

Looking for a post-something-or-other audience as yet to be determined. I get bogged down in writing when there is no response.

Anyone out there?

I'm having a little trouble with the same problem the Anchorite mentions.

Here/now (23:18 CST Sat 25 Feb 06)I know the Anchorite made his post at 7:42, but don't know what day or month.

I've been looking for a site that addressed the topic of mysticism in UUism. But I can't make the "Become a Member" link work. Wherefore?

This blog is fairly new, so yes, Anchorite, I think you're the first. Thanks!

I'm sorry the blog tools aren't working well for everyone. Send an e-mail to the UUMiC administrators (you'll find a link to e-mail us on the home page, in the left-hand column).

To get us started, a question: how do you live your mysticism? what are your spiritual practices, what values and virtues are you striving to cultivate in yourself, etc.?

For me, it's walking in nature (but I don't do that enough) that most feeds my soul - that and making music. These, and occasional meditation, are ways I try to cultivate the virtue and practice of presence to the moment. I'm easily distracted by many details or by study (busy mind). So to the degree I cultivate presence, it steadies and grounds me and makes me more effective outside and peaceful inside.

How about you?
